Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) in Windows XP,with which you can connect one computer to the Internet, then share the Internet service with several computers at your home or small office network. For this The Network Setup Wizard in Windows XP Professional will automatically provide all of the network settings you need to share one Internet connection with all the computers among your network. Each computer can use programs such as Internet Explorer and Outlook Express as if they are directly connected to the Internet. You should not use this feature in an existing network with Windows 2000 Server domain controllers, DNS servers, gateways, DHCP servers, or systems configured for static IP addresses.
Enabling ICS:-
The ICS host computer needs two network connections. The local area network connection, automatically created by installing a network adapter, connects to the computers on your home or small office network. The other connection, using a 56k modem, ISDN, DSL, or cable modem, connects the home or small office network to the Internet. You need to ensure that ICS is enabled on the connection that has the Internet connection. By doing this, the shared connection can connect your home or small office network to the Internet, and users outside your network are not at risk of receiving inappropriate addresses from your network. When you enable ICS, the local area network connection to the home or small office network is given a new static IP address and configuration. Consequently, TCP/IP connections established between any home or small office computer and the ICS host computer at the time of enabling ICS are lost and need to be reestablished. For example, if Internet Explorer is connecting to a Web site when Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, refresh the browser to reestablish the connection. You must configure client machines on your home or small office network so TCP/IP on the local area connection obtains an IP address automatically. Home or small office network users must also configure Internet options for Internet Connection Sharing. To enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Discovery and Control on Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition computers, run the Network Setup Wizard from the CD or floppy disk on these computers. For ICS Discovery and Control to work on Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition computers, Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later must be installed.
To enable Internet Connection Sharing on a network connection You must be logged on to your computer with an owner account in order to complete this procedure. Open Network Connections. (Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double–click Network Connections.)
Click the dial–up, local area network, PPPoE, or VPN connection you want to share, and then, under Network Tasks, click Change settings of this connection.
On the Advanced tab, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box. If you want this connection to dial automatically when another computer on your home or small office network attempts to access external resources, select the Establish a dial–up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box.
If you want other network users to enable or disable the shared Internet connection, select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.
Under Internet Connection Sharing, in Home networking connection, select any adapter that connects the computer sharing its Internet connection to the other computers on your network. The Home networking connection is only present when two or more network adapters are installed on the computer.
To configure Internet options on your client computers for Internet Connection Sharing Open Internet Explorer. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.)

Rename your recyle bin As you wish
You can rename your recycle bin as you wish by making some little chnages with your registry editor. It's simple and very interesting.
1) Goto Start button > click on Run.
2) Type regedit.exe and press enter you will get display of regedit editor.
3) Now navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder, In this folder open CLSID folder then open {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} folder >ShellFolder folder at last. Here change the data value from "40 01 00 20" to "70 01 00 20".
4) When you will done with all above steps you have to restart your computer,after restart you will find rename option to right click for recycle bin. So now you can rename recycle bin as your

Yes with some modofied settings you can use your pen drive as a memory(RAM) now. Low Virtual Memory Warning - Instant or temperory Fix iT
Are you getting a pop up by Windows that you have dangerously low virtual memory? You know, that little pop-up bubble in the lower right hand corner of the desktop screen.
Why are you getting this alert? When you are not have enough Computer Memory i.e. (RAM) in your computer to handle the tasks that you are request it to perform, your computer will use virtual memory. Virtual memory is an percentage of your hard drive that the computer will use to simulate the function that RAM (Random Access Memory) performs.
The proper way to resolve this trouble and eliminate that annoying pop-up window is to raise your computer’s memory. If you just want to temporaly fix it, follow the steps below:
1. Right click on My Computer and choose Properties.
2. Choose the Advanced tab.
3. At Performance section, click on the Settings.
4. In the Performance Settings, choose the Advanced option .
5. The Bottom section is the where you can set your Virtual Memory or Paging File size.

Set picture slideshow as ur desktop wallpaper
If you're bored of your desktop..... I have one program in majorgeeks and i wanted to introduce it to you, you need to download this program called "DeskSlide" which will dothe changing of wallpapers on your desktop later on . Use the following steps:-
1)You must have a no. of wallpapers available lets say 6/8 for the minimum
2) Download Deskslide in either of these locations:Homepage or MajorGeeks
3)Install Deskslide
4)After that,go to deskslides main window click on slides in somewhere in the lower portion of the main window (the one with 2 rectangles)
5)A new window will appear bottom of the main window click the "+" sign
6)Another window will appear so specify the path of your wallpaper (you have to do thisfor each wallpaper)
7)After that,you will see the wallpaper in the slides list so right click on it then go to "layout"choose "full bleed" (depending on the size of your picture will vary the appearance of your desktopfull bleed maximizes your wallpaper in the desktop)Note:You may also choose other layouts like Tile,Center,etc.
8)Do this for the rest of the other wallpapers you wish to use in the animation of your desktop9.)Click the clock image in the main menu and set the rate to 30 seconds which i reccommend10.)Press the play botton in the main menu and watch your desktop animate you can also stop deskslide from playing slides at anytime by clicking the stop botton from the main menuHope this program can entertain you

Unable to use show hidden files option try dis
nowadays there is one common problem that many are not able to view hidden files and folder even after enabling show hidden files and folders in folder options .. please follow dis steps to enable it again..Open the registry editor (Click on Start then run and type regedit press enter )..Now you will see a new window on the left pane Navigate to the following path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden

1.Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button).
2.Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.
3.Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one.
4.In the Power tab, look for your USB ADSL modem.
5.In the Resources tab look for the assigned IRQ (in this case - IRQ21).
6.This is the IRQ we're looking for.

Step #2 - Modify the system.ini file
Follow these steps:
1.Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.
2.Expand the system.ini file window.
3.Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].
4.Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type
IrqX=4096
where X is the designated IRQ number we found in step #1, in my case it's IRQ21.
Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!
5.Click on the File menu, then choose Save.
6.Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.
Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.

Although this tweak will render the drive invisible in Windows Explorer, it will still be accessible through Windows’ search utility, as well as other third-party file managing applications. To cloak a drive, open up regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer. Create/modify the DWORD value “NoDrives” to match a corresponding drive letter you wish to hide. A modern PC with Vista Home Edition takes about one and a half minutes to boot. An older machine with XP is about the same. That’s 30 seconds for the PC itself (the BIOS) to boot up, plus a minute for the Windows operating system to boot.
Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. when installing new software), but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot both. (That’s called doing a “cold boot,” rather than a “warm boot.”) There’s a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.

You need to stop it by the commands given below.
1. Open Start >> Run or press window+r
2. type net stop "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)"
You can also disable the service by following the procedure given below
1. Open Start >> Run or press window+r
2. type services.msc and press enter
3. Now locate the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) among the services and right click on it to select properties.

Want to Remove the Shared Documents folders from My Computer
One of the most annoying things about the new Windows XP user interface is that Microsoft saw fit to provide links to all of the Shared Documents folders on your system, right at the top of the My Computer window. I can't imagine why this would be the default, even in a shared PC environment at home, but what's even more annoying is that you cannot change this behavior through the shell: Those icons are stuck there and you have to live with it.
Until now, that is.
Simply fire up the Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ My Computer \ NameSpace \ DelegateFolders

RUN MORE THAN ONE WINDOWS VERSION ON SINGLE PC
Are you thinking about trying a new Windows version, such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP? It's possible to run two versions of Windows on a single PC. But setting up a "dual-boot" system takes a little planning and some technical knowledge.
If you want to run Windows 2000 or XP on a system with Windows 95/98 or Me, be sure to follow these rules:
You must have a separate partition or drive, with its own drive letter. Ideally, Windows 9X/Me should go on C:, with Windows 2000/XP on D:. Never, ever try to install two versions of Windows on your C: drive. Install Windows 2000 or XP last, after you get Windows 9X/Me working properly. Then, during Setup, click the Advanced Options button and check the I want to choose the installation partition during Setup box. After you finish setup and restart your computer, you'll be able to choose your operating system from the Windows 2000/XP startup menu. Want to install two versions of Windows 9X or Me on a single computer? If you want Windows 98 and Windows Me on one PC, you must use a third-party "boot manager" program to handle the work.

Tired of that annoying little window that pops up to tell you that new software is installed? If it gets in the way when you’re logging off, turn it off completely.
To do this
Click Start, right-click at the top of the Start menu where your name is displayed, and then click Properties. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box, on the Start Menu tab, click Customize. Click the Advanced tab, and then clear the Highlight newly installed programs check box. Click OK, and then click OK again. Now that message won’t be popping up when you least want to see it.
To do this
Click Start, right-click at the top of the Start menu where your name is displayed, and then click Properties. ADJUSTING THE DOS WINDOWS
First, the DOS window may not be the size you prefer for readability or just in terms of the arrangement of your screen "real estate." You can't grab the edge of the window and re-size it the way you can with a Windows window. Instead, you must adjust the font. The font adjustment will only be available if the toolbar is turned on...you will see a number of iconic buttons across the top of the window. If you don't see these, right-click the (usually blue) bar across the top of the DOS window and select "Toolbar." Then, you can simply choose from a list of available font options. Note that some of the options will result in the DOS window being larger than your total Windows desktop size (the DOS window will spill outside the edges of your screen). If this happens, you must select a smaller size for the DOS window. If necessary, you will have to "grab" the window with your left mouse button and drag it so that you can access the font selection area. If it is off the left or top of your screen, you will have a hard time readjusting it.

CHANGE THE LOCATION OF MY MUSIC OR MY PICTURES
In Windows 2000, Microsoft added the ability to right-click the My Documents folder and choose a new location for that folder in the shell. With Windows XP, Microsoft has elevated the My Music and My Pictures folders to the same "special shell folder" status of My Documents, but they never added a similar (and simple) method for changing those folder's locations. However, it is actually pretty easy to change the location of these folders, using the following method.
Open a My Computer window and navigate to the location where you'd like My Music (or My Pictures) to reside. Then, open the My Documents folder in a different window. Want to give your Windows XP desktop a new look? Right click the desktop, select Properties and click the Appearance tab. AUTORUN FOR CD OR DVD CAUSES SLOWDOWN?? TRY THIS
Windows has a feature called Autorun that automatically detects when a CD or DVD has been inserted into the drive. That's nice, but the downside is that in the background, this feature is constantly asking your drive if it has anything new inserted. This can cause your CD Games to "hiccup."
You can turn off this feature in Control Panel. Select the System Icon. Click the Device tab and open the CD/DVD drive. Right-click the name of the drive you want to alter and select Properties. Click the settings tab and uncheck the Auto Insert Notification

ADD-REMOVE OPTIONAL FEATUES OF WINDOWS XP
IT works in Windows XP, and can be quite useful: For some reason, Microsoft has removed the ability to specify which Windows components you want to install during interactive Setup, and when you go into Add/Remove Windows Components in the Control Panel, you still don't have the full list of applications and applets you can add and remove. The entries that include the text hide or HIDE will not show up in Add/Remove Windows Components by default. To fix this, do a global search and replace for ,hide and change each instance of this to , (a comma). Then, save the file, relaunch Add/Remove Windows Components, and tweak the installed applications to your heart's content.

You can use this tip to speed up the Start Menu in Windows XP. You can customize the speed of the Start Menu by editing a Registry Key.Click Start, and then click Run. Type Regedit in the box, and then click OK. Expand the menu in the left panel and select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop folder. Scroll down in the right panel and double click on the MenuShowDelay file. In the Value Data box, change to default value for the menu speed from 400 to a lesser number, such as 1. Click OK. Caution: Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.

Scared of spreading computer viruses? Try this to keep your pc safe and clean from Viruses
To avoid spreading computer viruses, create a contact in your email address book with the name !0000 (or similar) with no email address in the details. This contact will then show up as your first contact in your book. If a virus attempts to do a "send all" on your contact list, your PC will put up an error message saying that "The Message could not be sent. One or more recipients do not have an e-mail address. Please check your Address Book and make sure all the recipients have a valid e-mail address." You click on OK and the offending (virus) message would not have been sent to anyone. Of course no changes have been made to your original contacts list. The offending (virus) message may then be automatically stored in your "Drafts" or "Outbox" folder. Go in there and delete the offending message. Problem is solved and virus is not spread.
I wasn't going to cover this widely-circulated "tip" because it's so easy to check for yourself: Just try it: Add the fake name, but enter no corresponding email address. Many email clients will allow you to do this, and indeed will complain when you--- or a virus or worm--- try to send email to that bogus name.
The other reason I avoided presenting this tip is because it only works if your online defenses have already failed: Yes, it may help prevent a virus from spreading from your machine, but by the time this trick works, your PC is already infected. It's far, far better to prevent such infections in the first place. Then, not only will your system not infect others, but *you* won't be infected either.
So add a fake "!0000" (or "AAAAAA" or whatever) name to your address book if you wish, but please realize that this does absolutely nothing to prevent you from being infected in the first place, and so is of limited utility, at best.
