OPEN ITEM USING SINGLE CLICK

By default, to 'open' an item on the Windows XP desktop (or inside a folder window), you need to double-click an item. Or, you can click it once to select it. If you'd prefer, however, you can change this option to match a browser window, where holding the mouse pointer over an item selects it and clicking it once 'opens' it.
Open any folder window and click the Folder Options icon (or select Tools, Folder Options). On the General tab, under 'Click items as follows,' select 'Single-click to open an item.'Choose one of the two underlined options, if desired, then click OK.
